IIT Madras is located on a lush green campus in south Chennai with a turnover in excess of Euro 80 million, a total staff of about 1200 and some 9800 students (including postgraduates). IIT Madras has strong engineering and science departments. The Combustion and Propulsion Group within the Department of Aerospace Engineering will participate in the proposed project. It comprises 2 professors, 2 associate professors and 1 assistant professor, as well as 1 post-doctoral fellow, 30 PhD students and 20 MS (Masters of Science through research) students. The Department of Science and Technology has granted Rupees 500 Millions (approx. 75 Million Euro) for establishing a Combustion Research Centre at IIT Madras. The Combustion and Propulsion Group is very strong with many original and novel findings to its credit and provides a first-class supervisory and training environment.
