Bekaert Combustion Technology is a SME, employing 150 people with an annual turnover of nearly € 50m and a large supplier of premixed burners and also supplies aluminium cast heat exchangers for the use in commercial and domestic boilers. Research and development work on thermo-acoustics has been performed over the last decades. Since 2005 this topic has been explored together with academical partners such as universities of Leuven, Groningen en Eindhoven.
The majority of R&D work is finding thermo-acoustic solutions for customers over a broad gas quality bandwidth and broad modulation spectrum. The main focus of the R&D thermo-acoustic research is to provide the R&D engineers with tools to better or faster find those solutions.
The R&D department of Bekaert Combustion Technology is situated at two different locations in the Netherlands:one in Assen that employs 15 people (1 R&D manager, 4 R&D project managers, 6 R&D engineers and 4 technicians) and one in Belfeld (near Venlo) where 8 people are based (1 R&D site manager, 2 R&D project managers, 3 R&D engineers and 2 technicians).
BEK is a business unit of NV Bekaert SA, a Belgian multinational in steel cord and wire solutions and employs approx. 28,000 people worldwide. Technical support and courses can be facilitated by Bekaert Technology Centre and Bekaert Engineering.
