Professor Alan Cummings is Emeritus Professor of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Hull. He has 46 years’ research experience in the field of engineering acoustics. He has published 70 refereed journal articles on diverse topics within this field, and also a book chapter on ‘Variational Principles in Acoustics’ in Formulas of Acoustics, F.P. Mechel (Ed.), Springer-Verlag 2008, 2nd ed.
He has been involved as a full partner in the following European research projects:
BRAIN: EC Research Project ‘Basic Research in Aircraft Interior Noise’ 1992-1995.
FLODAC: EC Brite-Euram Project ‘Modelling Sound Generation and Propagation in Fluid Machinery Systems’ 1997-2000
