IfTA GmbH was founded in 1996 as a spin-out company of TUM, based on university research and development in the field of thermo-acoustics and active control. The company is now an SME (small or medium-sized enterprise) with 25 full and part-time employees.
IfTA’s AIC system (active instability control) for the active control of combustion instabilities in heavy duty stationary gas turbines was developed in the first few company years and subsequently came into operation worldwide. Another line of the business is the ARGUS system for the long-term analysis and monitoring of thermo acoustic oscillations in stationary gas turbines. IfTA is now a world-leader in research and supply in this field, equipping the world’s most efficient and powerful gas turbines in 40 countries, e.g. Siemens’ SGT5-8000H in Irsching, Germany. Furthermore, individual thermo-acoustics developments and research projects are executed on behalf of various clients.
70% of IfTA’s staff are dedicated to research and development, 30% work in production, service and administration.
