Ingenieurbüro für Thermoakustik GmbH

IfTA GmbH was founded in 1996, based on university research and development in the field of thermo acoustics and active control. The company is now an SME (small or medium-sized enterprise) with 30 full and part-time employees.
IfTA's AIC system (active instability control) for the suppression of combustion instabilities in heavy duty stationary gas turbines was developed in the first few company years and subsequently came into operation worldwide. Another line of the business is the ARGUS system for the long-term analysis and monitoring of thermoacoustic oscillations as well as rotor dynamics in stationary gas turbines. IfTA is now a world-leader in research and supply in this field, equipping the world's most efficient and powerful gas turbines in 50+ countries, e.g. Siemens’ SGT5-8000H in Düsseldorf, Germany and Andong, Korea. The function volume of the ARGUS system is continuously increased, e.g. with a thermoacoustic pre-cursor or early warning system, which was developed in the Marie Curie ITN TANGO (funded by the European Commission under FP 7) and filled for a patent. Furthermore, individual thermoacoustics developments and research projects are executed on behalf of various clients.
IfTA is supervising the ESR for research task 4.1.
